Despite that, their designs remain relevant in the modern world. The style was originally developed in the 18th century. We love Bodoni Moda for its traditional print feel combined with contemporary stylization.Modern fonts aren’t new at all. It has all of the hallmarks of a modern typeface with its thin serifs, ball-end terminals, and sturdy vertical stress. Bodoni Moda is a modern stylization of this classic typeface available on Google Fonts. There are a number of different styles out there built upon its classic typographic template. This typeface is classified as a transitional one, but many consider it the missing link between transitional and modern fonts with its distinct thick and thin stroke weights. Bodoni ModaĪny discussion about modern typography should include mention of Giambattista Bodoni, whose namesake Bodoni typeface was created in 1798. Here are a few modern web typefaces to consider for your next web design project. Modern fonts to use in your own web designsįor designers looking for an elegant font, modern typefaces offer a bit of class with their refined geometric letterforms. Their spindly features get lost at smaller scales, with their bolder stroke weights overpowering their more subtle nuances. Modern typefaces generally don’t work as body text. Designers often use them as display fonts as well as in headers and subheaders. With dramatic differences in stroke weights, modern typefaces look best at larger sizes. The differing strokes between the two modern fonts create a visual balance and aesthetic ideal for digital media. Their comparatively wide, balanced weight and lack of serif eliminate any visual noise from the reader’s eye, allowing the reader to focus solely on the words, and, more importantly, the message.įurther, modern serif fonts and sans serif fonts, when used alongside each other in design, particularly in graphic or web design, pair wonderfully together. Oftentimes, sans serif typefaces and fonts are considered more accessible in legibility and readability to readers - think of popular sans serif fonts like Arial, Helvetica, Avenir, Calibri, and Open Sans. They’re also marked by ball-end terminals at the end of some letters, most notably on lowercase “r” - though it’s not unheard of to see these circular elements on uppercase letters as well. They exhibit vertical stress within their letterforms, meaning that each glyph stands straight up without any sort of horizontal tilting. Modern serif fonts are marked by different weights between strokes and have thin unbracketed serifs. Once you know what to look for, you’ll be able to spot a modern typeface easily. This family of modern fonts shares common DNA with each other and have distinct traits that set them apart from other categories of typography. Gone are the blotchy serifs of the transitional fonts - more advanced printing technology makes crisp lines and delicate features possible. These typefaces exist thanks to the evolution of printing processes. Typographers formally define a modern typeface by tracing its roots back to the 18th century. Though the term “modern typeface” may bring to mind futuristic fonts or a minimalist font like Helvetica, neither is considered a modern typeface in the ‘traditional sense’ of graphic design. Modern typefaces are sometimes referred to as Didone or Neoclassical. While they may not officially fall into the modern fonts category, they’re closely related, meaning they might be the look your client wants when they say, “Make it modern.” The evolution of modern typefaces Popular serifs like Courier, Bondi Egyptian, and Rockwell may come to mind however, these slab serifs aren’t categorized as modern typefaces, despite being extremely popular across the web. Slab serifs differ in one major way - they do not have a noticeable difference in stroke weights. To the untrained eye, it’s hard to discern between the slab serifs and modern typefaces because they both have vertical stress and thin serifs. Esther lived in Shushan, which was the capital of the Persian Empire.Ĭonsider showing students the video “For Such a Time as This” (13:44) in place of part of the lesson. After fasting along with the Jews, Esther risked her life by approaching the king to intervene in the Jews’ behalf. Haman received permission from the king to destroy all of the Jews in the kingdom. Esther’s cousin and guardian, Mordecai, offended Haman, a leader in the Persian kingdom, by not bowing to him. After deposing Queen Vashti, King Ahasuerus of Persia chose a Jewish girl named Esther to be his new queen. Metabolism – Methadone is primarily metabolized by N-demethylation to an inactive metabolite, 2-ethylidene-1,5-dimethyl-3,3-diphenylpyrrolidene (EDDP). Methadone is secreted in saliva, breast milk, amniotic fluid and umbilical cord plasma. In plasma, methadone is predominantly bound to α-acid glycoprotein (85% to 90%). Effect of food on the bioavailability of methadone has not been evaluated.ĭistribution – Methadone is a lipophilic drug and the steady-state volume of distribution ranges between 1.0 to 8.0 L/kg. However, after administration of daily oral doses ranging from 10 to 225 mg, the steady-state plasma concentrations ranged between 65 to 630 ng/mL and the peak concentrations ranged between 124 to 1255 ng/mL. Dose proportionality of methadone pharmacokinetics is not known. Other NMDA receptor antagonists have been shown to produce neurotoxic effects in animals.Ībsorption – Following oral administration the bioavailability of methadone ranges between 36 to 100% and peak plasma concentrations are achieved between 1 to 7.5 hours. The contribution of NMDA receptor antagonism to methadone's efficacy is unknown. Some data also indicate that methadone acts as an antagonist at the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. The methadone abstinence syndrome, although qualitatively similar to that of morphine, differs in that the onset is slower, the course is more prolonged, and the symptoms are less severe. The principal therapeutic uses for methadone are for analgesia and for detoxification or maintenance in opioid addiction. Methadone hydrochloride is a mu-agonist a synthetic opioid analgesic with multiple actions qualitatively similar to those of morphine, the most prominent of which involves the central nervous system and organs composed of smooth muscle. See below for important regulatory exceptions to the general requirement for certification to provide opioid agonist treatment.įailure to abide by the requirements in these regulations may result in criminal prosecution, seizure of the drug supply, revocation of the program approval, and injunction precluding operation of the program. Certified treatment programs shall dispense and use methadone in oral form only and according to the treatment requirements stipulated in the Federal Opioid Treatment Standards (42 CFR 8.12). Methadone products when used for the treatment of opioid addiction in detoxification or maintenance programs, shall be dispensed only by opioid treatment programs (and agencies, practitioners or institutions by formal agreement with the program sponsor) certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and approved by the designated state authority. Methadone treatment for analgesic therapy in patients with acute or chronic pain should only be initiated if the potential analgesic or palliative care benefit of treatment with methadone is considered and outweighs the risks.Ĭonditions for Distribution and Use of Methadone Products for the Treatment of Opioid AddictionĬode of Federal Regulations, Title 42, Sec 8 Most cases involve patients being treated for pain with large, multiple daily doses of methadone, although cases have been reported in patients receiving doses commonly used for maintenance treatment of opioid addiction. In addition, cases of QT interval prolongation and serious arrhythmia (torsades de pointes) have been observed during treatment with methadone. These characteristics can contribute to cases of iatrogenic overdose, particularly during treatment initiation and dose titration. Methadone's peak respiratory depressant effects typically occur later, and persist longer than its peak analgesic effects, particularly in the early dosing period. Respiratory depression is the chief hazard associated with methadone hydrochloride administration. Particular vigilance is necessary during treatment initiation, during conversion from one opioid to another, and during dose titration. It is critical to understand the pharmacokinetics of methadone when converting patients from other opioids (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION). Deaths, cardiac and respiratory, have been reported during initiation and conversion of pain patients to methadone treatment from treatment with other opioid agonists. The first, and most obvious one, is that it sounds like you are trying to edit a movie that is almost an hour-long in After Effects. It has been a long time since I worked with a development team designing compression algorithms but we did a lot of really weird stuff to video frames in the early days. I don't know for sure if that is what is going on, but it is not an unreasonable explanation. Locking the frame rate That could account for the hour-long video running out of frames before the video is over. If nothing is changing in the frame for 5 or 6 frames you might have a single frame that is 5 or 6 frames long. When you lock a variable frame rate movie to a constant frame rate and there is no audio track you might be dropping a bunch of frames. Thanks in advance for your time and assistance! Can anyone more knowledgeable than I please tell how to overcome this problem? I have a feeling it's not overly difficult, but I haven't been able to find anything via internet searches or searches here on the forum. It's only when I bring it into AE that it's getting cropped. The video plays fine in preview, QuickTime, or any other app - all 52 minutes. They change the playback speed of the video, obviously, but nothing I know to try recovers the full length of the video. I have toyed with the footage frame rate and I've toyed with the composition frame rate neither make any difference. I'm losing a half hour of my video and I can't figure out why. The problem is that once I do this, no matter what number I change it to (I started with 52 but have tried many different numbers since), it cuts my video off at about the 22 minute mark. Well when I bring the 52 minute video (mp4) into AE (CS5), it informs me that the frame rate is 51.7126 FPS and I get the typical 17 18 incompatibility warning that I've encountered many times in the past and have fixed simply by changing the frame rate to a whole number. So I've been doing some screen captures of myself working on my iPad Pro to post to YouTube but after a recent update it reset the capture function to the default setting of having the microphone in the off position, so I rewatched my own video and recorded a voiceover, thinking I'd simply bring the file into after effects and throw the audio on there and render a new version to throw up on youtube. We must move past a situation comparable to basing space defense upon a Civil War observation balloon, when we need the space equivalent of a modern fighter jet powered by nuclear thermal propulsion. Such advances in technology are why nuclear thermal propulsion is safe, reliable and efficient for operations in Earth orbit and between the Earth and the moon, a segment of space the Chinese also prolifically write about dominating.Īmerica faces rapidly emerging threats to our space assets in Earth orbits and beyond, and our strategic approaches must just as rapidly evolve to meet these challenges. Following insertion into a nuclear-safe orbit - meaning at altitudes higher than low earth orbit - the reactor would automatically respond to thermal load changes and maintain safe operating temperatures. The reactor onboard the spacecraft would then start after the system is on orbit. The reality is that nuclear propulsion systems would be launched cold, meaning turned off with no radioactive hazards. The notion of nukes in space understandably gives people pause. The field has now advanced to the point where nuclear propulsion will provide the rapid maneuver and presence needed for both defensive and offensive space applications - the very attributes that speak to today’s threat-driven mission requirements.Īs is often the case when discussing anything nuclear, people rightfully worry about potential safety concerns. experts have been working on maturing these capabilities for the past 50 years. The theory then being the Chinese would run out of ASAT missiles without being able to destroy all the many satellites America had in orbit. When China started testing and deploying a limited number of anti-satellite, or ASAT, missiles, some space leaders sought to deny the benefit of an ASAT attack by planning to deploy numerous, disaggregated small satellites to complicate Chinese targeting and increase their numbers of targets. A safe, reliable and effective way to achieve these attributes is through the use of nuclear thermal propulsion for our space vehicles. While defenses against Chinese ground-based anti-satellite missiles or on-orbit weapons may include such methods as proliferation of numerous small-satellite constellations or hardening of satellites themselves, speed and maneuverability will remain key war-fighting attributes. space leaders to rethink their approach to this growing threat. China’s aggressive military space strategy, which views space warfare as “rapid and destructive,” must prompt U.S. |
