![]() They had told us to remove stuff we didn't want to lose, we just didn't even think of that. My husband lost his smart watch on one of the big jumps. Watch what your wear if you partake in the cliff jumping. The lunch provided was amazing! The salsa you could add to your tacos was SPICY. We were stuck in that for an hour but never hit it again, thankfully. They were protesting letting Uber start there. We got caught in a taxi driver protest along the highway on the way back, and that was annoying. It was amazing! It's a long walk at Tulum, so dress accordingly. We did an excursion to Tulum and to swim in some cenotes. There is a period from about 3-6 pm where you can't really get food at this resort, except by room service. All of our lunches were eaten at the Privilege Lounge. It had a huge selection for breakfast, and the omelettes are very good and huge. We walked through the buffet a few times for lunch and dinner and weren't really impressed. We ate the sushi at the Japanese place and it was ok, but we are picky about sushi. We had thought the Privilege Lounge was closed the night we walked by because nobody was in there. It is right on the beach, but it was dark by the time we ate so we didn't see the ocean. The Italian restaurant was good, and a very social noisy environment. The food was good, my short rib was fairly tough. The portions were small at Blue Moon, we both felt kind of hungry after that. We loved the fajitas at El Charro! We ate there our last two nights and I wish we had tried it earlier in our stay so we could have eaten there more. We didn't make reservations for the first few nights, and I don't think you would have needed them at all except for the teppanyaki. They try to clean it up all the time and we only smelled it one time after the wind switched directions and we were swimming right beside it. We walked along the beaches and it was beautiful. The beach wasn't a flat smooth sandy entrance to the water, but it was still very nice. The activities were fun, and you could just watch if you wanted. There were usually still chairs available at the quiet pool. But we just left our sandals off to the side or with someone we had met and could join in activities or swim. The party pool chairs get towelled by noon, so we couldn't get chairs there often. And most chairs had a palm umbrella thing with them to give shade. That was lovely! There were always seats available in the normal beach section, too. ![]() We were usually able to get beach seats in the privilege section closest to the privilege lounge where they asked you if you would like drinks delivered. The service was amazing everywhere we went. We had an amazing holiday at Ocean Maya Royale from Jan 7-14, 2023. We loved the fajitas at El Charro! We ate. ![]() ![]()
